After a year of virtual productions, Open Stage will once again invite live audiences into the theatre. The first production of their season is
Over the Rainbow: The Songs of Judy Garland. Beginning May 28, this cabaret features local performers Rachel Landon, Stacey Werner, and Carly Lafferty under the music direction of Nicholas Werner. Director Stuart Landon commented, We wanted to produce shows that will bring light and happiness into people s lives. A concert featuring Judy Garland s songs will be a show for folks looking for something joyous and fun. She s an icon and she gave us a lifetime of songs that any person can enjoy. I was recently given the opportunity to pop in on a rehearsal and speak with the performers.
Midtown Cinema’s renovations can now be enjoyed firsthand as the theater reopens for public screenings

When renovations were initially announced in 2020 for Harrisburg’s Midtown Cinema, plans were to reopen the independent movie theater in June.
But due to the pandemic, any potential grand re-opening plans had to fall by the wayside. Instead, like many theaters, the Midtown Cinema opened carefully and gradually, with options to rent out the theaters for private groups at first.
More recently, the theater has resumed selling individual tickets for public screenings, albeit still at a reduced capacity, while the final stages of the renovation neared completion. Information on movie showtimes and COVID-19 precautions can be found at the Midtown Cinema’s website.

Open Stage is located in downtown Harrisburg on the street level of the Walnut Street parking garage. Open Stage theatre has been remodeled and is offering an open house Oct. 24. Open Stage is located at 25 N. Court St. in Harrisburg.

Open Stage will present a series of outdoor concerts as their first live performance since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
The Harrisburg theater company has hardly been idle throughout 2020, presenting a full season of over 20 online productions to audiences through YouTube. But the upcoming outdoor concert series will begin with a show titled “Over the Rainbow: the Songs of Judy Garland” scheduled begin May 28.
