A Chicago-area woman was ordered held on $500,000 bail this week after being accused of pouring boiling water on her boyfriend last month while he was asleep on a couch, according to a report.
The suspect, identified as Alexis Sykes, 22, of Roselle, Ill., fled to Mississippi after recording herself committing the act in the couple s apartment on Jan. 2, then posting the video to Snapchat, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.
Sykes was located in Mississippi on Jan. 19 and extradited back to DuPage County to face the charges against her, which include two counts of aggravated battery by caustic substance and two counts of aggravated domestic battery both felonies, prosecutors say.
Roselle police receive $100K grant for mental health services

The Roselle Police Department has received a $100,000 grant to provide mental health services for crime victims and department employees.
The grant from the Bloomingdale Township Mental Health Board is the third of its kind since 2019 and will help expand services to ensure a counselor is on duty seven days a week. It also allows officials to increase counselor availability from 40 hours per week to 60.
I always thought that mental health services should be part of the department, Police Chief Steve Herron said. I m happy to be the catalyst for that and I think this is a step in the right direction.
