PLANO, Texas Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere has led the city for eight years, reaching the term limit for the position. With a new mayor set to be elected on Saturday, WFAA sat down with the outgoing mayor to get his perspective on his time serving the city.
Here is some of that conversation:
Robert Uribe, the 911 Technology and Communications Administrator for Dallas Police Dept., said that they had staff in hotels so they could be close to work. He said supervisors and managers are jumping in to take calls to help elevate the amount of calls. We re trying to manage these calls as effectively as we can under these circumstances, said Uribe. What I will tell you, please be patient, if you call 911 for an emergency, please hold the line, do not hang up, it s more important that you stay on the line until we answer the phone, said Uribe.
Uribe said they have seen extended wait times, given that they re receiving calls not related to police or emergencies.
Stoler started radiation in December to battle prostate cancer. It s his second bout with cancer. The first time was lymphoma. I m not thankful for having cancer twice, but I am thankful the two times I ve had cancer here, I am on the verge of being a two-time survivor, Stoler said.
Monday through Friday, for five and a half weeks, five minutes each day, a Varian Linear Accelerator TrueBeam targeted radiation with pinpoint accuracy on Stoler s prostate. Which of course kills cancer cells, Stoler said. He s got a wonderfully positive attitude, Dr. James Petrikas said. Petrikas is Stoler s radiation oncologist. Back when I was 18, 19 I was diagnosed with cancer, Petrikas said. It doesn t give me superpowers, but I understand the anxiety on a different level.
