Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
‘Searchers estimated her vehicle was buried under 15 feet of mud, rock and logs.’
Authorities described their operation to find Moore as incredibly treacherous. MCSO said rescuers had to use heavy machinery – such as front loaders and dump trucks – to move debris to reach where Moore was buried.
The work had to be carried out delicately, as the mud in the area was wet and unstable, authorities said.

The body of a 50-year-old nurse whose car was swept away in an Oregon landslide was recovered by authorities on Saturday, 10 days after she disappeared while on the phone with her husband.

She had been driving home from dinner with her husband on Jan. 13 when her blue Ford Escape was swept away by a landslide near I-184 around 1:15 a.m., authorities said.

Registered nurse Jennifer Moore, 50, had just finished the late shift at the hospital where she worked when she decided to go out to eat with her husband, Charles. They drove in separate cars just after 1:00 a.m. local time. It started to rain, and Charles said he was talking on the phone with his wife as they drove through the storm. When they reached Tumalt Creek in Dodson, he stopped to help his wife navigate the road, which was flooded with water.
According to an official press release, “Before she reached the location, while they were still on the phone, he [Charles] heard her scream and panic, and then he heard crashing sounds,” deputies said. “He says the phone disconnected.”

Oregon sheriff’s deputies recovered the body of a 50-year-old woman a little more than a week after her car was caught in a landslide, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Saturday.
Jennifer Moore, of Warrendale, was driving near Dodson, Ore., east of Portland along the Columbia River and the border with Washington, around 1 a.m. Jan. 13 when her SUV was swept away by the landslide, the department said in a news release.
Searchers estimated her vehicle was buried under about 15 feet of mud, rock and logs and a contractor hired by the sheriff’s department had to use a high-powered metal detector to find its exact location.
