(AP) Three people were injured when a small plane crashed near a Florida elementary school on Thursday, officials said. The single-engine aircraft went down near Blue Angel Elementary in Pensacola, the Pensacola News Journal reported. No injuries were reported to anyone on the ground Escambia County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Steve Booth said students from nearby Naval Air Station Pensacola were driving by when they saw the crash. The students rushed toward the flaming wreckage and pulled the three occupants to safety, Booth said. Two of the victims were taken to a hospital by helicopter as trauma alerts, while the third was transported by ambulance, officials said. Details about their conditions weren t immediately released.
