LEBANON The Lebanon High girls tennis team got its season off to a flying start on Monday, stopping the state runner-up the last time the NHIAA had a Division II tournament.
Kaeley Skakalski won a singles tiebreaker and fought off five match points in her doubles match with partner Keira Hines, giving the D-III Raiders two key points in a 6-3 win over D-II Bow at the Carter Community Building Association courts. Crisi Patel also contributed wins in singles and doubles for Lebanon (1-0). Bow reached the finals of the D-II tourney in 2019, losing to Portsmouth.

NORWICH The Hanover High baseball team rode six innings of four-hit Wes Stocken pitching and made the most of limited offensive opportunities to earn a 3-2 win over Sunapee on Tuesday at the Dresden Athletic Fields diamond, completing a two-game sweep of the Lakers.
Stocken, a junior, struck out four, walked one and didn’t allow a run after Sunapee (0-2) scored in the top of the second inning to erase an early Hanover run. Junior Josh Bucci worked the seventh for the save, allowing an unearned run.

MERRIMACK, N.H. The way Stevens High bowling coach Shawn Wadsworth sees it, his Cardinals may have won the NHIAA state team championship at home on Saturday, not Sunday in the final two rounds at Merrimack Ten Pin.
The COVID-19 pandemic left the Cardinals with weekly geography-based competition with Keene and Hillsboro-Deering this winter. Stevens could handle H-D but could never solve the Blackbirds … until Saturday, when the Cards earned a three-game quarterfinal sweep of Keene at Maple Lanes to advance to Sunday’s final four.

BRADFORD, Vt. The ways things are developing, the Rivendell Academy girls basketball team will give someone a stomach ache in the VPA Division IV state tournament. Saturday’s foe can be glad it won’t be the one.
Senior Adele Tilden went 6-for-7 from the line in the fourth quarter and scored a career-high 21 points as the Raptors outlasted Oxbow, 40-31, at Mona Garone Gym. The Raptors (5-1) pulled off their most impressive win of the season, topping an Olympian team that was a D-III semifinalist last winter and has been among the top teams in that division this season.
