Boeing Sets 2030 as Sustainable Fuels Target for Commercial Airplanes
(25 Jan 2021) Boeing has set an ambitious target to advance the long-term sustainability of commercial aviation, committing that its commercial airplanes are capable and certified to fly on 100% sustainable aviation fuels by 2030.
According to the Air Transport Action Group, U.S. Department of Energy and several other scientific studies, sustainable aviation fuels reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80% over the fuel s life cycle with the potential to reach 100% in the future.

Etihad Airways to Resume Flights to Doha, Qatar
(25 Jan 2021) Etihad Airways has confirmed that it will resume flights between Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and Doha, Qatar on 15 February 2021.
The service, subject to the applicable government approvals, will operate daily using Airbus A320 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Etihad requires 100% of its passengers to show a negative PCR test before departure, and on arrival in Abu Dhabi.
The airline also recently started offering free PCR testing for guests departing the UAE and free COVID19 insurance for all passengers globally.

Cathay Pacific Carried Just 39,989 Passengers in December 2020
(25 Jan 2021) Cathay Pacific carried 39,989 passengers in December 2020, a decrease of 98.7% when compared to December 2019.
The month’s revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) fell 98.1% year-on-year. Passenger load factor dropped by 66.6 percentage points to 18.4%, while capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASKs), decreased by 91.2%.
For 2020 as a whole, the number of passengers carried by Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon dropped by 86.9% against a 78.8% decrease in capacity and an 85.1% decrease in RPKs, as compared to 2019.

UK Court Gives Malaysia Airlines Green Light for Creditors Meeting
(22 Jan 2021) Malaysia Aviation Group has received approval from a court in the UK to proceed with a major component of the group s comprehensive restructuring.
In September 2020, the group decided to embark on a holistic restructuring aimed at resizing the business so that it could emerge sustainably profitable in the long-term as Malaysia’s flag carrier with a stronghold in Asia-Pacific and an improved short-haul business model in ASEAN.

The deal will increase the number of destinations available to Iberia passengers from 29 to 36 on Qatar Airways’ network, including new destinations in Angola, Australia, Mozambique, New Zealand and South Africa.
