April 20, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com A Hartland Township man has been bound over for trial on attempted murder charges after authorities say he brutally beat his father. 26-year-old Clay Garner is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, aggravated domestic violence, and assaulting, resisting, or obstructing a police officer for the February 18th incident. In 53rd District Court Monday, Garner’s father testified how his son, a former U.S. Marine, had attacked him a day after returning home from a mental health stay at a Veterans Administration hospital. Garner’s father said his son pummeled him with closed fists to the torso on their home’s deck, resulting in three broken ribs and a collapsed lung with internal bleeding. WHMI 93 5 Local News : County Approves Juvenile Court Attorney List

February 24, 2021 Livingston County has approved new attorney contracts for the 44th Circuit Court – Juvenile Division. A non-competitive Request for Qualification (RFQu) bid process was recently performed with CoPro+, the county’s procurement partner. The search was for interested attorneys and/or firms that would be available to provide legal representation to minor children and parents in child protective proceedings, and respondent children in juvenile delinquent proceedings. In all, 13 responses were received, evaluated, and determined to be qualified by Chief Judge Michael Hatty, Chief Judge Miriam Cavanaugh, and Judge Matthew McGivney, Presiding Judge of the Family Division. According to a memo sent to the Livingston County Board of Commissioners, based on the responses received along with the Court’s knowledge of many of the respondents, 10 of the 13 could be approved without further research.
