PETALING JAYA: More Opposition MPs are expected to leave their parties and declare their support for the ruling Perikatan Nasional government, say Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa and other leaders.
Annuar said he was made to understand “seven or eight more Opposition MPs” may defect to Perikatan in the coming days, citing the government’s “stellar performance in tackling Covid-19”.
“Most importantly, if this government performs, then more will be prepared to support us, ” he told reporters after a walkabout at the Young City Entrepreneurs Kiosk and Anjung Floria in Putrajaya yesterday.
Annuar declined to name the MPs or the parties they are from.
PETALING JAYA: The recent declaration by three PKR MPs to ditch the party and become Independents to support Perikatan Nasional is a courageous and principled move , say former party members.
The 10 former PKR members party said that the dynamic political move by Julau MP Larry Sng, Tebrau MP Steven Choong and Kuala Langat MP Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar meets the aspirations of the rakyat for a fully functioning and stable government. No doubt, this is a progressive development that signifies their confidence in the Perikatan Nasional government s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and the proactive, decisive and timely measures implemented to jump start the economy and ensure sustainable recovery.

KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 14 Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said today’s defections will not save the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition from its impending downfall.
The former minister said no political movement can sustain itself in the long run by building support on the back of defections, as he accused the government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin of luring MPs into its fold in a desperate bid to retain power.
