School Replaces Teacher Allegedly Caught Masturbating During Online Class

A teacher at a Canadian high school has been replaced after he was allegedly caught on video masturbating during an online class.
A video that circulated on social media over the weekend reportedly showed a ninth-grade teacher at St. Stephen Catholic Secondary School in Bowmanville, Ontario, touching himself inappropriately with his computer camera on and students present in the virtual class.
Parents reported the video to the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District s school board and the police. An investigation is underway.
The school board s communications manager, Galen Eagle, told the
TORONTO Police are investigating after a video shared on social media showed a high school teacher in Bowmanville, Ont., engaged in “inappropriate behaviour.” A spokesperson for the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board said the incident occurred on Friday during a virtual class at its St. Stephen Catholic Secondary School. “School administrators … became aware that students who were logged into a virtual Grade 9 classroom may have seen inappropriate behaviour by their teacher during a break,” the spokesperson said. “We are aware that a video of this incident has been circulated within the student community at the school and on social media. The school and the board are taking this matter very seriously and we have addressed the matter at the school level.”

A letter dated May 2 sent to parents from St. Stephen principal Trevor Poechman said officials were made aware Friday of the video “depicting inappropriate behaviour by a teacher during a break in virtual classroom activities.”
