STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - A police chief in the Golden Triangle is hoping new, high-tech body cameras may shed light on the work officers put into their day.
The Starkville Police Department is under a week away from getting 60 new body cameras and 40 new car cameras with technology that could change the game for officers, according to Starkville Police Chief Mark Ballard.
“Technology can be the ultimate witness, said Ballard. It doesn’t carry the bias, the politics, or what the situations are.”
STARKVILLE - A 15-year-old male was arrested Tuesday and charged with the Sunday evening shooting of a 17-year-old in central Starkville.
The Starkville Police Department arrested Tyrese Macon, 15, of Starkville, and charged him as an adult with murder. He was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail where his is being held on a $750,000 bond.
âThis violent act has impacted a number of lives and is not a reflection of Starkvilleâs core values,â said Starkville Police Chief Mark Ballard. âSenseless violence has left one teenager dead and another teenager has forever changed the course of his life.â
Police responded to the intersection of Hilliard Street and Sherman Street around 5:15 p.m. April 4 to the report of a shooting with a possible victim. The responding officers found a deceased white male, later identified as Clifton Hester Files, 17, of Starkville.
