Arita Vanzie
Roaring Creek resident, Arita Vanzie, died in a fatal car crash on the Stann Creek Valley Road. The three other persons traveling in the vehicle received various injuries and lived to tell the tale. The group was travelling from Belmopan to Dangriga when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car ran off the road and into a culvert. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

Just after eight o’clock on Tuesday night, there was a fatal road traffic accident in Dangriga, which claimed the life of Arita Vanzie, a twenty-six-year-old pawnshop employee from Roaring Creek Village. Vanzie was one of four persons travelling in a Chevy Impala car when the driver, Customs Officer Deon Castillo, lost control of the vehicle and ran into a ditch, hitting a culvert. Vanzie died while receiving treatment at the Southern Regional Hospital.
Two people are dead after being involved in a violent road traffic accident on the Southern Highway between a motorcycle and a pickup truck on Saturday, January 2. It took place at around 6:00 p.m. as 16-year-old Edwin Marquez was travelling on a motorcycle when the driver of a Chevy Colorado pickup truck veered into his lane, causing extensive head and body injuries to two people.
At around 6:20 p.m., police were called to Bella Vista Village, Stann Creek where they observed the body of Marquez along with his damaged motorcycle. Police further noticed the pickup truck, which was driven by Juan Veliz, who was along with his common-law wife, two children, and another man. Their investigations have since revealed that Veliz and his party were leaving a social event in the Stann Creek Valley area when he accidentally drove into the lane in which Marquez was operating the motorcycle. Israel Argueta
Police are looking for a driver who knocked down and killed a man on the Stann Creek Valley Road.
The family of Israel Argueta is mourning the loss of their loved one and police have more questions than answers. Just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, the 64-year-old was riding his bicycle when was he was knocked from the rear. Dangriga Police were called to the scene between Miles eight and nine on the Stann Creek Valley Road and met Argueta’s lifeless body. Not too far away from his body was his damaged bicycle.
Police have since learnt that the bicyclist was travelling north along the highway when he was hit from behind, causing the fatal injuries. The police are asking the assistance of anyone who might be able to offer information in this incident. So far, they have not yet been able to locate the vehicle nor get a description of the driver.
