JOLIET, IL A two-story house on Joliet s far west side near Theodore Street sustained heavy damage on Saturday afternoon. Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said the blaze happened around 12:15 p.m. and that cigarettes were to blame. The family that lived at the house were alerted by their neighbors and they escaped with any injuries.
Joliet Fire Department trucks from stations 8, 9 and 10 responded to 1617 Stanton Lane to put out the fire.
Joliet s firefighters saw the outside of the house on fire when they arrived at the emergency.
Drivers warned of five-mile diversion as village road closed for gas works
The closure is to start later this month
The main road through the village will be closed
