Stirling shopping mobility service shuts its doors following uncertainty over future funding

Stirling shopping mobility service shuts its doors following uncertainty over future funding Daily Record 1 hour ago Chris Marzella A service which provided scooters and wheelchairs for Stirling city shoppers with mobility issues has closed. Stirling Shopmobility, operated by Order of Malta Dial-a-Journey, notified its users that the service will not re-open again due to struggles to find funds required to continue operating. Dial-a-Journey, a registered charity, has been working to secure the cash to keep the service - which has 400 registered users - operating. Chief executive Duncan Hearsum told the Observer that it costs around £38,000 per year to run. He said Stirling Council had provided around £20,000 towards that and a further £9,000 was taken in through hire charges and membership fees. The charity would then fundraise to make up the balance of the cost.
