Young audiences can meet some of the most significant Black Americans in "Black History Hall of Fame," an interactive show coming to public libraries in Randolph County in February.
Services will be held Saturday for Murray, 96, who was the first woman to run and be elected as Grand Coteau's mayor, and the first African American female mayor in St. Landry Parish.
ATHOL Bright Star Children s Theatre, a national professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, N.C., is visiting Athol with a public performance of their acclaimed show, “Black History Hall of Fame.” This free, all ages event is made.

The St. Landry branch of the National Association of University Women has inducted several new members into the Black History Hall of Fame.
The ceremony took place at Plaisance Elementary School Thursday evening.
Inductees included Coach Kenneth Winfrey, Judge Ledricka Johnson-Thierry, Judge Shaunn Callier-Harden, and Attorney Charles Cravins.
Thursday s event also marked the 30th anniversary of the St. Landry branch of the association.
Chairwoman Dr. Savoynne Williams said the association honors those who may normally go unnoticed. We recognize people around the area who generally don t get recognized. Those people who sit behind the scenes and make everything work, but yet sometimes people don t notice them
