There are many reasons to foster devotion to this model of strong masculinity each year, but especially in 2021, a special year dedicated to St. Joseph declared by Pope Francis on Dec. 8.

May 1 is the Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker, commemorating one of many roles he played in Jesus’ life, according to a spokesperson for the Dioceses. The day will begin at 10 a.m. as Bishop Deshotel celebrates Mass inside the church, then from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. everyone will head out to the church grounds to enjoy live music, food and dessert trucks, a beverage station, a variety of games for the children and much more. Families are urged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for your comfort. There will be Year of St. Joseph memorabilia available for purchase as a memento of this Jubilee Year.

JOSEPH, Mich. — Authorities have identified the victim in a drowning incident that took place late last month. The St. Joseph Public Safety Department says one male was swept off the south pier by a large wave at Silver Beach on Sunday, March 28. They say rescue efforts were made but were unsuccessful. We’re told the body of 27-year-old Dakota Yergeau of St. Joseph was recovered by Michigan State Police today. The public safety department writes, “We are truly sorry for the family’s loss and would like to offer the family our deepest and most sincere condolences.”

Members of the Michigan State Police dive team located the body of Dakota Yergeau, 27, Wednesday near the south pier at Silver Beach in St. Joseph. Yergeau and another man reportedly were on the pier in southwestern Michigan on March 28 when it was struck by a large wave, St. Joseph police said in a release.
