TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in which a man was ‘lucky’ to have survived. Officers were called to Walnut Street in Blackburn at shortly before 4pm on Sunday to reports of an assault. A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with several stab injuries described as serious. His condition is stable. Following a number of enquiries, two men - aged 22 and 24 and both from Blackburn – were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Tuesday. They are both currently in custody. Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or anyone with mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV to come forward.

Residents share their horror as emergency services flock to Blackburn street
SHAKEN residents described their horror after a man was left in a serious condition following a stabbing in broad daylight. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to Walnut Street, Blackburn, which runs between Cedar Street and Whalley New Road, shortly before 4pm on Saturday. Upon arrival a man in his fifties was found in a serious condition having received stab wounds during an assault, with officers now searching for three Asian men in connection with the incident. The victim remains in hospital in what is believed to be a stable condition.
