A fire that destroyed at least six businesses in a White Center strip mall may have been set intentionally.
King County Sergeant Tim Meyer says that’s based on new evidence that came to light Thursday.
“They have now reclassified this as an arson case,” Meyer said. “So it’s very much an open and active investigation that’s being investigated by our detectives. They’re going to continue their good work to identify the suspects and motive in this incident.”

Officials are investigating a string of fires at commercial spaces in Renton on Sunday.
The fires broke out around 6 a.m. along Grady Way. Four separate fires are under investigation, according to officials.
A Greyhound maintenance facility, several buses and a taco truck were damaged.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting Renton police with the investigation.
The truck’s owner told KIRO 7 it was his family’s only source of income. Now, a GoFundMe page has raised more than $10,000 for them. Their goal is $50,000. Click here for more information.
The cause of the fires has not been determined, but they may have been intentionally set. Outside investigators are assisting Renton with the arson investigation.
