Siskiyou County Public Health officials announced a 14th COVID-19-related death on Wednesday, although the department is not releasing any details to protect the privacy of the patient and their family.
This is the county s first death in more than a month; the last was reported on Jan. 15, said public health spokesperson Angelica Cook.
Although Siskiyou has seen a decline in COVID cases over the past weeks – on Thursday morning there were 40 active cases – the county remains in the most restrictive purple tier of the state s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

The search for two missing Yreka brothers ended in tragedy Saturday afternoon when 18-year-old Colin Brannon and Carl Blossomgame, age 23, were found dead in a vehicle about 200 feet down a mountainside near Pioneer Bridge on Highway 263.
The family had been searching for the brothers since Thursday, when they became concerned for their safety after realizing no one had seen or heard from either Colin or Carl since Monday, Feb. 15.
“I got a text from them on Valentine’s Day, saying ‘Happy Valentine’s Day mom,” said the mens’ mother, Deborah Formosa, who lives in South Carolina. That’s the last time she heard from either of her sons.

A Tigard, Oregon man was arrested on Friday after officers say they found three loaded handguns, heroin, methamphetamine, drug sales paraphernalia and an improvised explosive device inside his car.
Chad Curtis Loynachan, age 29, had a previous felony charge that prohibited him from having firearms, according to a press release from Yreka Area California Highway Patrol public information officer Greg Perkins.
Two of the loaded handguns were later determined to be stolen, Perkins added.
As of Wednesday morning, Feb. 10, Loynachan was still listed as an inmate at the Siskiyou County Jail in Yreka on several drug and weapons-related charges. The amount of his bail was not listed.
