A company that wanted to run two 340m zip wires in Whitby has hit back at suggestions that the idea was “crass”.

Barnsley-based Big Bang Promotions had approached Scarborough Council about its plan to install the two lines in time for the summer season when the coronavirus restrictions are lifted.
The proposal, which had drawn criticism from local groups, one of which branded it “awful” and “crass”, would have taken thrill-seekers 300 metres from the town’s West Cliff to a landing spot in front of the lighthouse on the West Pier until the end of September.

What is sad is that there is no thought for the local infrastructure. GP surgeries are full to capacity.
Are too many new homes being built in Whitby?
It is not right to have to wait two weeks to see a doctor.
Dentists seem never to function. Both of these professions have been given a healthy rise.
Then we have schools full and parents not always getting the school of their choice.
One of the greatest things missing is a decent bus service for the town.
All the houses being built are not served by a bus. Opposite where I live, we are to have a large care complex but no buses for those poor residents.
