The City of Toronto has issued its first extreme cold weather alert for the winter season as temperatures hit frigid conditions from the wind chill. Environment Canada is forecasting a high of -7 C but wind chills making it feel like between -14 C and -22 C into Thursday evening and overnight. Friday is expected to see a high of -6 C with a wind chill of -22 C in the morning and -10 C in the afternoon.

Published Tuesday, December 15, 2020 8:46PM EST Environment Canada has issued a special weather advisory for Toronto, warning that a up to 10 centimeters of snow is possible by Wednesday night. The weather agency said a narrow band of lake effect snow is expected to develop off Lake Ontario Tuesday night and move inland Wednesday morning. “This band will be over the Burlington area early Wednesday morning and slowly shift northwards reaching the southwestern section of the City of Toronto by mid morning,” Environment Canada said. “Through the afternoon the band will drift south, reaching downtown Hamilton in the evening.” Snowfall amounts of five to 10 centimetres are possible by Wednesday overnight, with snowfall rates of “several centimetres per hour likely.”
