Sheriff Scott Hodshire says the county needed a K-9 unit due to the county being next to Ohio and Indiana. In the past, the Sheriff’s Office had to reach out to the Michigan State Police in Lansing to have a dog brought down. It was roughly a 90 minute wait for the State Trooper and the dog to arrive.
