OXFORD There’s no halftime in stock car racing, but it was a tale of two halves on Sunday.
After a free-for-all among a half-dozen drivers at the front of the field prior to the midway point, Dave Farrington Jr. finally took over and dominated the final 75 laps of the Pro All Stars Series Honey Badger Bar & Grill 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway. The win was the sixth in the last nine Super Late Model races at the track for the Jay driver.
A game winning hit by Kris Hobbs propelled the Brownwood Lions past the Gatesville Hornets 4-3 Tuesday night at Morris Southall Field in a game broadcast on KOXE by Carl Wayne and Scott McDaniel.
“It’s good to get a win in a one-run game,” said Lions second-year head coach Brian Harris. “The last couple of games we battled really hard and competed pretty well in some spots, but I thought we did a really good job of doing that for a full seven innings tonight.”
On the mound, Hunter Day went the distance and allowed three runs on six hits with 11 strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Since December, construction totaling more than $225 million has been completed on some of the largest K-12 projects in Arkansas. Work on elementary, middle and high school campuses totaling millions of dollars more is ongoing across the state.
“That’s been a big part of our work portfolio as of late,” said Doug Wasson, CEO of Little Rock’s Kinco Constructors LLC.
Fourteen of the largest active K-12 projects represent more than $226 million worth of construction. Atop that list are the mix of new buildings, upgrades and renovations at the two largest high school campuses in Fort Smith.
