Humble City Council approves election for May 1  Written by Beverly Horner Published: 22 February 2021 On the blistery evening of Feb. 11, the Humble City Council approved a general joint election to be held May 1 for the purpose of electing a mayor and city council member places 1 and 2. There are three contested positions, with six residents seeking the posts, two for the mayoral position and four for the council seats. The last day to file was Friday, Feb. 12. Former Council Member Norman Funderburk will face Arliss Bentley for the mayor’s job. Funderburk, who served on city council for almost seven years, resigned in mid-January shortly after current Mayor Merle Aaron announced he would retire and not seek reelection. Bentley, a retired educator, has run for office in Humble several times.

Thursday, 28th January 2021, 12:30 pm Alan Fenton was a popular resident at the Manchester Road-based home since February 2015. He loved walking and was a regular seen in the local Scott Park, sitting on a bench watching the world go by. Alan has a wife, Lillian Fenton, who also lives in a care home, but has no children or close relatives and Lillian cannot afford to pay for the funeral costs. Therefore, staff have rallied and set up a fundraising page urging generous Burnley folk to donate towards the appeal and give Alan the funeral he truly deserves. Their goal is to raise £2,500.
