The Scott Valley’s Valley-Wide Yard Sale has traditionally been held on the first weekend in June for more than 25 years. Historically very popular with up to 100 published sales, the event languished last year due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
A few local yard sale enthusiasts are working to revive this popular event and bring it back to its former glory. Jerry Johnson, Amy Johnson Lukens and Karen Wiley are compiling sale addresses and getting the word out to locals and visitors alike.
“We saw a need for a central location to share valley-wide yard sale information and decided to volunteer our time to fulfill that need,” said Johnson. “If you are a valley resident, this is a great time to clean out your barns, sheds and spare room and offer your treasures for sale.”

The family of a 7-year-old Siskiyou County girl raised almost $30,000 selling baked goods and cookbooks to help researchers find new treatments for the child s rare disease.
Photographer Shelly Suetta, 38, of Greenview wrote “Desserts for a Cure,” a compilation of family recipes she makes with her daughters, Emma, 7, and Lilly, 10.
The family also raises money with bake sales they host at the Scott Valley Wide Yard Sale, which takes place the first Saturday in June.
It s a labor of love, Shelly Suetta said, to help fund research to treat and cure cystinosis a rare genetic disease affecting Emma and several hundred other Americans.
