With the Jan. 18 expiration of the mask mandate, the Dickinson City Commission met maskless for the first time in a few months Tuesday evening at City Hall for its regular scheduled public meeting to review COVID-19 protocols, construction projects and an award program.

New Year s Eve luminary release canceled
The scheduled Luminaries Release for New Year’s Eve, hosted by the Downtown Dickinson Association, has regretfully been canceled due to fire hazards the sky lanterns present and a change in city policy that now considers the luminaries “fireworks” under the recently adopted International Fireworks Code. Due to current International Fireworks Code, the scheduled New Year’s Eve Luminaries Release event has been canceled, as luminaries are considered a firework by code definition, and are therefore not permitted to be used within city limits.

During Tuesday evening’s regular scheduled meeting, the Dickinson City Commission met to discuss regular business items as well as swear in the newest addition to the city’s government new City Administrator Brian Winningham.
