Thomas Edison’s sketches in 1877 were the foundation of John Kruesi’s, an Edison-employed machinist, phonograph built of tinfoil. Linda Ronstadt circa 1987. Four artists who have died in the last 18 months were saluted. Two 1987 albums by Linda Ronstadt are among the 2021 inductees into the Grammy Hall of Fame , and Canciones de Mi Padre, a Spanish-language album. These are Ronstadt’s second and third recordings to be inducted into the Grammy Hall. Her 1974 album Heart Like a Wheel was honored in 2018. A total of 29 recordings were inducted, bringing the total number of recordings in the Hall to 1,142. The announcement was made on Monday (Dec. 21). The Hall was established in 1973 to honor recordings that pre-date the 1958 inception of the Grammy Awards. It is now open to any recordings, that are at least 25 years old and “exhibit qualitative or historical significance.”

GRAMMY Hall Of Fame Welcomes Iconic Recordings As Their 2021 Inductions Inductees include Bruce Springsteen, We Are The World, and Don t Stop Believing. by TV News Desk Today the Recording Academy® welcomes the 2021 inductees for the distinguished GRAMMY Hall Of Fame®, continuing its ongoing commitment to preserving and celebrating timeless recordings. This year s additions recognize a diverse range of both single and album recordings at least 25 years old that exhibit qualitative or historical significance. Recordings are reviewed each year by a special member committee comprised of eminent and knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts, with final approval by the Recording Academy s National Board of Trustees. With 29 new titles, the Hall, now in its 48th year, currently totals 1,142 recordings.
