CASPER, Wyo. (AP) An outgoing Wyoming Republican state representative is organizing a protest to urge Republican Gov. Mark Gordon to discontinue coronavirus health restrictions that are set to expire on Jan. 8.
State Rep. Scott Clem said he plans on marching Monday at the Wyoming State Capitol to protest the “tyranny” of the governor and his public health orders meant to reduce the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Clem did not immediately respond to a request for comment made by the Casper Star-Tribune on Tuesday.
Wyoming’s Republican Party leadership, which has promoted the protest on its Facebook page, said the organization had no role in organizing the event.
With Gov. Mark Gordonâs public health orders meant to slow the spread of COVID-19 set to expire, a departing Wyoming Republican lawmaker is organizing a protest at the Wyoming State Capitol on Monday to urge those orders not be renewed, though infection numbers have fallen off since the orders took effect.
Outgoing Rep. Scott Clem, R-Gillette, plans to march on the Wyoming State Capitol at noon Monday to âpeaceably assemble and protest the tyranny of our Wyoming State Governor,â he said Monday in a Facebook post, claiming that Gordon views Wyoming residents as âsubjects to be controlled by big brother.â

Clem, who has represented Wyoming House District 31 for several years in the Wyoming Legislature for several years, made the announcement on his Scott Clem for Wyoming House District 31 Facebook page.
