ALBION â The Albion Town Council Tuesday voted 5-0 to open up a gravel lot it owns to public parking, adding an extra 15-20 spots to what has become a very congested downtown area.
Due to the construction of a new county annex on the block to the west of the Noble County Courthouse, the downtown has lost:
⢠spots on the west side of the York Street across from the Noble County Courthouse;
⢠the parking lot at the former prosecutorâs office where the courthouse is being built.
A recent day saw multiple steel trucks attempting to deliver their loads to the construction site. According to Albion Town Marshal Scott Cole, when one truck was inside the fenced-in area waiting to be unloaded, the other steel trucks had nowhere to go, further adding congestion to the downtown.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace will be building beds in Ryan this weekend.
The program builds beds for children in Delaware County who don’t have one. Since Hopkinton resident Keith Kramer started the local chapter last year, they’ve built and delivered 135 beds throughout the county.
Volunteers are welcome to come and help build beds in Ryan on Saturday morning – no experience is necessary. They’ll be set up in Scott Cole’s truck shop in the old creamery building just east of the Ryan Post Office. They plan to start around 8 am and wrap up around 11:30 am.
And if you can’t make it then, another Bed Build will be held in Delaware this summer on Saturday morning, June 12

5. Notre Dame Irish students and alums stand for the school fight song. Saturday afternoon they were dancing after an 18-11 victory over Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. St Patrick Kavanagh finished with nine points. He is playing himself into Tewaraaton conversation. The groundball and face-off stats tell the story, with Notre Dame holding a 45-20 edge in grounders while winning 23-of-32 face-offs. The rest takes care of itself. After a close home loss to Virginia last week, the Irish were ready to battle. This was the exact response you hope to see. Their EMO continues to percolate. Eric Dobson, Griffin Westlin and Will Yorke all stung corners. The FOGOs, defense and goaltending plus bench role players have Rudy dreaming of its first NCAA title.
Lehigh coach Kevin Cassese said that this year, Cole Kirst’s mentality is different.
“Every time he has the ball, he thinks he can score,” Cassese said.
Good thing it ended up in his stick with two minutes left and the game tied Saturday. He bombed an outside shot that inadvertently hopped into his crosse, then the Hawks’ defense held off a late Army surge for a 13-12 win.
Lehigh remains unbeaten at 5-0.
Michael Sisselberger was dominant yet again, winning 23-of-27 face-offs. He’s taken the reins as Lehigh’s primary drawman and has put himself in the discussion as best in the country.
