A day after Mayor Joe Hogsett announced a $3.3 million proposal for crime reduction, the Indianapolis police union voted to declare the city as one in crisis.
Local Fraternal order of Police President Rick Snyder said members also agree there is a crisis of confidence in city leaders to effectively address the soaring violence. As of Thursday, the city reported 98 criminal homicides. That s up from 69 for the same period last year. Those who are sworn to protect this city want the residents of Indianapolis and Central Indiana to know that this latest mayor s announcement does nothing, nothing to address the urgency of the matter at hand, Snyder said of the unanimous membership vote.
