Ryan Thurston was more than three times the legal booze limit when he was spotted by police officers. The City of Cranbrook is carrying out a prescribed burn Thursday, April 15, and localized smoke should be visible from Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fort Steele and ʔaq’am. A 22-hectare parcel straddling the road entrance to the Canadian Rockies International Airport (CRIA) will see prescribed fire starting in the morning, to control fuel loads and limit conifer regeneration. We are tackling this work as part of a larger coordinated effort to protect communities and infrastructure, with our partners and neighbours in ʔaq’am, Kimberley, the BC Wildfire Service, MFLNRORD staff and local industry.

Part of Elizabeth Road in Dravosburg will be closed Monday so crews can repair a support wall and guide rail damaged in a November car crash. Allegheny County Public Works officials said the closure will be between Scott Drive and Curry Hollow Road starting at 9 a.m. Traffic will be detoured using Curry Hollow Road, Route 837, McClure Street and Maple Avenue. The road is expected to reopen some time in May. The estimated $40,000 project is being done by Pittsburgh-based Pugliano Construction.
