COME JUNE, Candace Bowen and her husband, John, will drive from northern Ohio to Eastham, to vacation in a rental house they rolled over from their canceled 2020 summer trip. Theyâll spend the next three weeks photographing sunsets at Rock Harbor, sitting on First Encounter Beach, grabbing a bite at Arnoldâs Lobster & Clam Bar, biking, doing jigsaw puzzles, hanging out with the kids and grandkids, and making their grown daughter listen one more time to that story about trying to eat Cape Cod sand when she was a child. ADAMS â As the weather got colder, Haflinger Haus Restaurant Tavern & Inn owner Don Sommer knew he needed to get creative and heat things up to keep his business going. All restaurant business is down due to the pandemic, he said in a recent phone interview. Last summer, we invested in new patio furniture [for outside dining]. As it got colder, we added propane heaters and it helped business.
However, as the weather got even colder, business fell. We went to the Cape, Scargo Cafe in Dennis, where they have dining huts. We had dinner in a hut and thought it might be a good idea for us.

Dennis Holiday Lights winners
Eleven businesses and nonprofits and 21 residences entered the Dennis Chamber of Commerce s first Dennis Holiday Lights contest. Participants were asked to decorate their location, business or residence for a safe holiday event. Over 2,800 votes were cast during the voting period.
Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty office on 6A in Dennis won the business category. They will receive a half-page ad in the Dennis Chamber of Commerce 2021 guidebook ($1,200 value) and a chamber membership for a year.
