Cementation Skanska lands £93m HS2 Euston job
Skanska’s HS2 Euston site
Cementation Skanska has been awarded a £93m contract to construct a 1 km-long open-cut retaining box for HS2.
The section will house the tunnels coming into Euston station for the new line. More than 800 piles will be installed for the box section. In addition, around 700 piles will be installed for two new bridges – Hampstead Road Bridge and Granby Terrace Bridge – that will run over the new line. A further 524 piles will be installed for other works around the Euston area.
Cementation was awarded the contract by the Skanska/Costain/Strabag joint venture, which is delivering the £1.8bn S1 and S2 sections that run from HS2’s Euston station up to the M25.
In action: Exploring Skanska s electric vehicle charging retrofit
edie has launched a new three-page download looking at how EDF-owned chargepoint provider Pod Point assisted Skanska on its mission to become carbon-neutral by 2045 by retrofitting a key office with chargpoints for EVs.
The case study is free to download for edie users
Construction and property development giant Skanska has committed to reducing the carbon emissions of its UK business to zero by 2045, without purchasing carbon credits for offsetting. As an interim target on the road to 2045, Skanska UK is aiming to halve its total carbon footprint by 2030, against a 2010 baseline. This will require the company to cut its carbon intensity – the amount of CO2e it produces per £1m of revenue – to 130 by 2030, against a 2010 baseline of 351.
