Woman gang-raped in Sylhet, 4 held
Police have arrested four youths in connection with the gang-rape of a woman in Sylhet’s Golapganj upazila.
According to the police, the rape survivor had a romantic relationship with one of the accused, Abdul Hakim. On Saturday, her boyfriend called her out to Muradpur market to visit him.
He took her deep inside the forest in Chororagolla area at Golapganj’s Gandamara village and called the other accused and gang-raped her.
The arrestees are Abdul Hakim, 20, of Turukbagh village; Rajan Ahmed, 22, of Dakshin Kandigaon village; Shipon Ahmed, 19, of Baghakhalpar village; and Akhter Hossain, 23, of Pirerchak village of Sylhet Sadar upazila.

Four people were killed and four others injured as the gas cylinder of a CNG-driven microbus exploded after the vehicle hit a goods-laden truck on Sylhet-Zakiganj regional road in Sylhet s Golapganj upazila early today.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
Harun-ur-Rashid Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Golapganj Police Station, said the microbus hit the moving truck from behind in Hetimganj area around 5:30am.
The microbus soon caught fire after its cylinder exploded, leaving three passengers dead on the spot, the OC said.

Four persons, including a five-year-old child, were killed in an accident on Sylhet-Zakiganj road in Sylhet s Golapganj upazila early yesterday.
The incident happened as the gas cylinder of a CNG-run microbus exploded after the vehicle hit a goods-laden truck.
The dead are Rajon Ahmed, 22, and microbus driver Sunam Ahmed, 26, of Sylhet s Beanibazar upazila; Marjan Ahmed, of the district s Kanaighat upazila; and Mehedy Hasan, 5, of Sylhet s Golapganj upazila.
Mehedy was a road-side slum dweller whereas rest of the three were passengers of the microbus.

Two motorcyclists were killed and one other person was injured as a bus hit their motorcycle on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Sylhet s Bishwanath upazila this afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Masum Ahmed (28) from Lalabazar area of Sylhet s Dakshin Surma upazila and Taher Ahmed (30) from Bagha area of Sylhet s Golapganj upazila, said police.
Quoting witnesses, Akhter Hosain, officer-in-charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station, said the Habiganj Express bus hit the motorcycle in Rashidpur area around 2:30pm, leaving Masum and Taher dead on the spot and another motorcyclist injured.
