COLUMBIANA City Manager Lance Willard notified city council Tuesday that he had sent an application for project funding from a special congressional program, specifically local Congressman Bill Johnson.
The funding was reserved to complete infrastructure projects which can be applied to completing the industrial park.
Because of the need to show community support and reflect the need for the infrastructure project, Mayor Rick Noel, Dan Bekar and the American Legion wrote letters of support.

Thursday, April 15
1:14 a.m. Officer Varnum responded to Spring Street to investigate a disturbance.
2:18 a.m. Cpl. Clayton responded to Military Street to summon Evan Gonya, 38, of Oakfield man for violation of protective order.

COLUMBIANA City Manager Lance Willard announced at Tuesday’s council meeting that the issue with the gas aggregation supplier going out of market which broke contract has been resolved. Efforts to reverse charges were successful after the city made objections. Willard explained that he is happy to announce that adjustments will be made.
“They are going to abide by that contract which is a fixed rate and our residents will get money back one way or another on their accounts,” Willard said.
In other business, Ron Detwiler, Park Recreation and Cemetery Board president, said there are eight current projects at Firestone Park. Two more projects will take place this summer.

BRIDGEPORT Firefighters responded to an “all hands working” fire at a barbershop on Madison Avenue Saturday afternoon, Emergency Management Director Scott Appleby said.
Multiple city fire units were called to the Turn’n Heads Barber Shop and Beauty Salon near Salem Street around 12:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire, Appleby said.
The arriving crew reported smoke showing from the roof of the building. Additional firefighters were summoned as a working fire was confirmed.
