The Seneca Nation on Friday requested that the federal district court stay all proceedings for 45 days in response to the United States Department of the Interior’s declaration that it has yet to review the legality of the payment provisions of the Nation’s Class III gaming compact with the State of New York.
The Department- which is empowered under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act to ensure lawful gaming agreements – expressed “serious concerns” about the lawfulness of any renewal period payments in an April 15 letter issued by its Office of Indian Gaming. The letter explains that in 2002 – when the Compact commenced – the Department did not review whether revenue sharing during the 7-year renewal period was lawful because the Compact terms did not provide for any payments beyond the original 14-year term. Health officials in Seneca County say the boil water alert that was active for an apartment complex in Romulus has ended.
A water main break at the Spring Meadows Apartment complex along Rt. 96 prompted a boil water alert, which lasted two days before expiring.
It was lifted on Friday at 3:50 p.m., according to officials.
The cause of the water main break was not released.

The Waterloo Police Department has provided an update on the structure fire that heavy damaged an auto repair shop on Main St. around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
First responders initially responded for the report of a vehicle fire at Community Car Care in the village of Waterloo. Upon arrival, the bay of the shop was found to be fully-engulfed.
All of the occupants of the building were out and unharmed.

It was 12:30 a.m. when New York State Park Police officer Jason Steki clocked in and reported for duty during a dark winter night in Seneca Falls on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020.
The officer responded to assist another agency at the Lakeside Trading store stationed along State Route 89 just across the street from his post at Cayuga Lake State Park.
