Animal Services Joins Petco’s Love Lost Facial Recognition Database LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services announced April 21 it will begin using the Petco Love Lost database, which uses facial recognitiontechnology to reunite lost pets with their owners. Petco Love, previously known as the Petco Foundation, launched the searchable database to help pet parents find their lost animals quicker and easier. The database is accessible to people who lost pets or have found pets, as well as participating shelters and animal organizations throughout the U.S. “We see firsthand how quickly a pet can go missing, whether they were curious and wandered away from home through an open gate or were frightened during fireworks,” said Brenda Barnette, general manager of Los Angeles Animal Services. “We work tirelessly to care for pets, whether they’re awaiting their new home or lost and need help getting back to their families.

Humane Society of C. Oregon awarded $12,500 grant from Petco Love BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) The Humane Society of Central Oregon announced Tuesday a $12,500 grant investment from the newly named, Petco Love, to support their lifesaving work for animals in Central Oregon. To celebrate the investment, a check celebration will take place on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Petco, 3197 N Hwy 97, Bend, OR 97703. Members of the media and community members are welcome to attend. Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they’ve empowered organizations with nearly $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they’ve helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.
