ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered the federal government to provide electricity and gas connections in eight acquired villages of Islamabad.
Justice Mohsin Akhter Kayani heard a case filed by a resident of village Dharek Mohri, Muhammad Younis. The petitioner stated in his plea that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) had acquired the eight villages in 2008 but has conducted no survey yet. The residents of the villages are deprived of basic facilities due to the apathy of the civic body. He said the IESCO and the Sui Gas Department have no reasons for not providing connections to the residents. After hearing the arguments, the court ordered the departments to provide connections in the villages.

KASUR: A man along with his family members allegedly poisoned his wife to death near Todepur village on Sunday.
Reportedly, Rashid Mehmood lodged a case registered with Teh Sheikham police in which he told that his sister Asima Bibi was married to Sarfraz some four years ago. He alleged that accused Faraz along with his brothers Imran, Adeel and father Rafiq allegedly poisoned his sister to death.
PROTEST: Residents of Raknpura Basti, Sabri Chah Blanda and other areas on Sunday staged a demonstration against suspension of Sui gas for the last several days.
The protesters, including women, chanted slogans against the Sui Gas Department for observing unannounced gas suspension at Chowk Shafi Mahsoliya, Basti Chiragshah, Bhasarpura, Raknpura, Basti Sabri, Chah Bulanda, Mohalla Pir Bukhari and other areas.
Crack down on Illegal gas compressors
They confiscated 144 gas compressors and registered FIRs against 140 culprits

The Peshawar District Administration along with the Sui Gas department launched a crackdown against the illegal usage of compressors to extract gas.
Administrative officers carried out targeted activities at Hayatabad, University Road, GT Road, the interior City and other parts of the Metropolis including markets.
They confiscated 144 gas compressors and registered FIRs against 140 culprits under the Gas (Theft Control and Recovery) Act, 2016.

SAPM inaugurates gas pipeline

PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Establishment Mohammad Shehzad Arbab inaugurated a new gas pipeline here on Friday.
On the occasion, Arbab said that domestic gas consumers in Peshawar had been facing the problems of shortage and low pressure since long.
“After assuming power, the PTI government focused attention on the solution to the gas problem and after consistent efforts, we have been able to address the issue,” he added.
A 12-inch wide and 16km long pipeline has been connected with the main gas pipeline, which will help to increase the gas pressure for domestic usage. The new pipeline will facilitate at least 1,50,000 households.
