ECC nods new gas supply accord between SSGC, FFBL

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Wednesday approved the renewal of an agreement between Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim (FFBL), which will lead to restoration of gas supply to the fertiliser maker. The petroleum division placed a summary before the ECC regarding renewal of gas supply agreement between SSGC and FFBL.
After a detailed discussion, the ECC approved with a condition that renewal would be allowed on as and when available basis for a period of five years.
âSSGC may restore the gas supplies to Fauji Fertilizer till December 2021 or until a uniform rate for the whole fertiliser sector is formulated after rationalisation of tariffs (whichever is earlier),â a statement said after a ECC meeting presided over by Minister for Finance and Revenue Hafeez Shaikh
Supply of electricity, gas to be ensured

Islamabad : Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub has said that 500 KVA grid station and 40 million metric cubic feet of gas will be provided for immediate supply of electricity in Allama Iqbal Industrial City, the preferred special economic zone of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC), says a press release.
Funds would be provided on an emergency basis for the project. He was talking to Chairman FIEDMC, Mian Kashif Ashfaq. On the occasion, he also assured to provide additional 15 million metric cubic feet of gas for M3 Industrial Estate.

After an exercise of around six months, an energy audit of inefficient power plants has come to a halt as textile and other industries have obtained a stay order from Sindh High Court.
In July last year, the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) had authorised National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA) to conduct energy efficiency audit of captive power plants.

After a gap of almost 12 years the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has officially lifted ban on issuing new licences to set up Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling stations, however, the new stations have been barred from using natural gas.
The oil and gas regulator has initiated the process to invite applications for new CNG stations, with a clear warning that the raw material to be used will only be re-gasified natural gas (RLNG).
