Photo: file Gas shortage across many cities of the country is proving to be troublesome for citizens as gas stations continue to close and appliances requiring gas to function remain useless for hours, according to a report in The News.  Sindh and Balochistan have both announced the closure of gas stations across the provinces as the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had stated earlier that supply would remain suspended during two days of the week Saturday and Sunday.

Govt to auction 20 new oil and gas exploration blocks next month: Nadeem Babar   Published On The SAPM said Pakistan had LNG deals for 700 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD) ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Petroleum Nadeem Babar has said that the government would auction 20 new oil and gas exploration blocks during the next month as part of its strategy to achieve self-reliance in the energy sector. Bids for the auction are expected to be held by mid-January to encourage exploration activities in the country, he said in an interview with the Bloomberg, a US-based news agency.

Govt arranges 12 LNG cargoes for January Business December 20, 2020 ISLAMABAD: The government has procured 12 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet growing energy demand next month following temperature drops in winters, a ministry’s spokesperson said on Saturday. The ministry of energy’s spokesperson said the country will be moving 30 percent more LNG this January compared to January 2019 at the cheapest ever price of $6.34 / million metric British thermal unit for a peak winter month. One cargo that was scheduled for 30th December was moved a few days ago into January, said the spokesperson. In addition volume has been increased in certain cargoes.

Pakistan’s gas woes deepen amid winter demand Top Story Ag APP ISLAMABAD/KARACHI/QUETTA/PESHAWAR: Pakistan on Saturday faced gas supply issues amid increasing demand in the northern areas of the country in the thick of winter, leading to supply being curtailed to compressed natural gas (CNG) stations and industries, as the government said it has procured 30 per cent additional liquefied natural gas at the “cheapest ever price for January”. A Petroleum Division spokesperson explained the government’s winter gas load-management strategy, saying Pakistan will be moving 30 per cent more “LNG molecules” in this January compared to January 2018, at the cheapest ever price of $6.34 [per MMBTU] for a peak winter month,” the spokesperson said in a weekly press statement.
