Brookings kidnapping suspect arrested in Sioux Falls

By Kristi Golden Jul 23, 2021 | 6:42 PM SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – Friday afternoon, the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Task Force, along with the Sioux Falls Police Department, apprehended Alexander Felipe Andrade near the 1500 block of West Russell St. Andrade was wanted in connection with a kidnapping that happened Sunday at Oakwood Lakes north of Brookings. Police had arrested Ashle Elizabeth Heier of Brookings on Tuesday for her alleged role in the kidnapping and on four counts of harboring or concealing a criminal, parole violations, and drug charges. Andrade is being held in the Minnehaha County Jail from charges stemming out of Brookings County for Kidnapping, 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, and 2 counts of Intentional Damage to Property.

(KELO.com) Mayor Paul TenHaken unveiled his proposed operating and capital improvement budgets Thursday afternoon. He says his proposed operating budget renews the city’s focus on housing accessibility, public safety, and quality services. TenHaken’s 2022 budget includes a request to add four additional positions for police, as well as increased investment in Metro Communications. The Mayor also says he proposes funding to invest with nonprofit and private sector partners to implement housing solutions. Below is the release from the City on the Mayor’s budget proposals.
