This week we talked about the new Nicolas Cage movie, “Pig,” chewed the fat on all things Anthony Bourdain and the documentary of his life, “Roadrunner,” and rounded up new releases worth checking out.
For the ‘Staff Picks’ section we went deep on our favorite Nic Cage movies and hopefully put a spotlight on a couple that are in need of a little more love.

The Week in Review, by T.D. Thornton Two months before Arlington International Racecourse is scheduled to run what is feared to be the historic track s final race, Churchill Downs, Inc. (CDI), the gaming corporation that owns the up-for-sale landmark, has reportedly requested an application for 2022 race dates from the Illinois Racing Board.
But as columnist Jim O Donnell of the
Daily Herald in suburban Chicago put it in his Friday scoop of this story, “What the carnivorous CDI will do with the application remains to be seen.”

Governors from all three Siouxland States spent the day at the Tri-State Governors’ Conference. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem met at the Marriot Riverfront in South Sioux City.
The event hosted by the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce focused on shortage of workers in the region and addressed the impact of COVID-19.
Governor Reynolds was then scheduled to tour the Arena Sports Academy in Sioux City.

STORM LAKE, Iowa (AP) Mention the words “summer school” to any student and the reaction you receive isn’t likely to be overflowing with enthusiasm.
But after enduring more than a year of abnormal educational settings because of the COVID-19 pandemic, students of all ages in Storm Lake seem to be taking to the added time in school this summer.
“They just bound in the building,” Storm Lake Community Schools superintendent Stacey Cole said of some of the students attending her district’s expanded summer sessions.
