Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The Sioux Rivers Mental Health Region is continuing its search for a new facility in the local area that would better serve its clients than the current site in Sioux City.
CEO Shane Walters told the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday cost is a big factor in the search to get a facility that actually sits in the region.
Walters says Sioux Rivers is looking for a new site because of some added services being required later this year by recent legislation.

Northwest Iowa The Sioux Rivers Mental Health Region, which is headquartered in Orange City, is in the preliminary stages of selecting a new location for their Crisis Center.
Sioux Rivers CEO Shane Walter tells KIWA that, after Woodbury County left the Sioux Rivers Region, their current Crisis Center is located outside their region.
(As above) “Currently we have a facility in Sioux City. It’s a Crisis Center. And we have had that building in Sioux City since 2015 or 2016. We purchased that (building) when Woodbury County was part of our region. Obviously they’ve left Sioux Rivers and gone to the Rolling Hills Region.”
