The government released Khaleda Zia on March 25 last year after suspending her jail sentence as per section 401 (1) of the Criminal Code of Procedure (CrPC).
Section 401(1) of the CrPC says, When any person has been sentenced to punishment for an offence, the Government may at any time without conditions or upon any conditions which the person sentenced accepts, suspend the execution of his/her sentence or remit the whole or any part of the punishment to which he/she has been sentenced .
Later on, the suspension of her jail sentence was extended twice and the government issued separate notifications to this effect.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia s doctors said she can be taken abroad once she becomes consistently stable.
With oxygen support, her oxygen saturation level remains 100 percent and she needs one litre of oxygen an hour, said a doctor involved with Khaleda s treatment.
The doctor, who is in a 10-member medical board, said the former prime minister s oxygen level fluctuates without oxygen support, but the dependency has decreased. We advised the family members to take madam [Khaleda] abroad once she gains more stability, he told The Daily Star yesterday.
Her blood pressure was 120/80 at 5:00 pm yesterday when her respiratory rate was 15-20 per minute.

“It depends on the government when they will allow her to travel abroad. The hospital’s medical board will take the next decision once we get the approval,” he said, asked whether her health will allow her to fly now.
