Jackson residents with past due water bills who qualify may get some relief through a program aimed at catching up on past due bills and potential debt forgiveness.
Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba on Monday detailed the plan, which will allow the city to establish payment plans providing customers with additional time to make payments on their water bills. It will go into effect July 19.
Lumumba said the program applies to low income residents, those with water issues related to faulty equipment and residents impacted by weather events.
