EU implements €100m support for COVID-19 vaccination in Africa

Modestus Chukwulaka, EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS spokesman announced this in a statement.
The EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, mentioned the initiative during her visit to the Africa Centre for Disease control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Tuesday.
After his meeting with Head of the Africa CDC, Dr John Nkengasong, Lenarčič said he was about the new chapter in the EU’s partnership with the continent.
Lenarčič noted that the additional EU funding against the coronavirus pandemic in Africa will help to ensure that no one is left behind.

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has approved the recruitment of 1192 health personnel for the state.
Tambuwal in a statement signed by the State Commissioner of Health, Muhammad Ali Inname said a committee involving stake holders in the Health Sector and Office of the Head of Civil Service has been constituted to carry out the assignment.
He stated that all applicants who applied for appointment into the State Primary Health Care Development Agency through the Ministry of Health Portal in September and October 2020 should note that the committee will soon conduct interviews through the local government areas.

The Kwara State Government has inducted about 130 medical workers recruited into the state civil service to boost healthcare delivery in the state.
Among them were 19 doctors, 90 nurses and 20 other allied health workers recruited into the primary and secondary health facilities, Dr. Saad Aluko, Director General, Kwara state Hospital Management Bureau, said at the induction ceremony for new workers in the Ilorin General Hospital on Tuesday.
Commending Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration for its strides in the health sector, Dr Aluko, urged the new health workers to deliver on their mandate to save lives.
He said ” As professionals, we are to serve the people of Kwara State in the capacities we have been employed for.

Buhari said the late Deby played a vital role in the fight against Boko Haram.
In a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, the president described the late Chadian leader “as a friend of Nigeria who had enthusiastically lent his hand in our efforts to defeat the murderous Boko Haram terrorists that have posed grave security challenges not only for Nigeria, but also our African neighbours, particularly Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic.”
