Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to stage its third event in the span of just eight days as UFC 257 will go down later tonight (Sat., Jan. 23, 2021) inside Etihad Arena on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The pay-per-view (PPV) event will feature the highly-anticipated return of Conor McGregor, who will face Dustin Poirier in a Lightweight rematch. The card will also feature the UFC debut of former Bellator MMA 155-pound champion, Michael Chandler, who will face Dan Hooker.
Guess who’s back, back again that’s right, it’s Conor McGregor. After COVID-19 limited him to just one appearance last year, the Notorious will take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. The two will battle it out on UFC’s Fight Island, but the only way you’ll have to catch the action on ESPN Plus.
This is the second fight between McGregor and Poirier, and it’s safe to say that these are two different fighters than they were six years ago at UFC 178. Poirier’s reputation has grown since he knocked off Max Holloway for the interim Lightweight title. He put up a good fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov as well, who famously defeated McGregor back in 2018.

Calvin Kattar has issued a statement following his loss to Max Holloway in the main event of UFC Fight Island 7.
After the loss, Kattar took to Instagram to release a statement on the loss.
“Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up. With goals so strong that obstacles, failure and loss only act as motivation. Props to Max on a hell of a fight he deserves all the praise. Thankful for my team’s commitment for this fight. On to the next. There is no stopping the man who doesn’t quit,” Kattar wrote.

Boxing specialist, Calvin Kattar, will battle former Featherweight strap-hanger, Max Holloway, this Saturday (Jan. 16, 2021) at UFC Fight Island 7 in “Fight Island” on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
For different reasons, both men are in difficult positions. Katter is that problematic mix of major talent and relatively low fame, which makes moving up the ladder difficult. He’s not an opponent elite Featherweights are rushing to call out, so instead Kattar finds himself facing foes just outside that group.
Holloway changes that. The former champion largely proved himself an equal to Alexander Volkanovski in their two fights, so putting the stamp on “Blessed” would really elevate Kattar’s notoriety and ranking.
