SAN ANGELO  San Angelo drivers might soon feel a few less bumps in the road after the city hired not one, but two construction companies to repair broken streets and patch potholes across town. On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, city council members unanimously approved emergency street repair contracts for both Reece Albert and James D. Goode Construction at an amount not to exceed $1 million. Executive Director of Public Works Shane Kelton said the city needs to fix San Angelo roads as quickly as possible in the wake of February s winter storm before seasonal spring rains make the problem worse. The longer we wait to repair it, the more damage is going to be done to the surrounding pavement edges and road base, Kelton said during an earlier interview with the Standard-Times.
