Little Mix claim victory on this week’s Official Singles Chart as Sweet Melody climbs to Number 1.
Leaping eight places to the top spot, the track from their latest album Confetti is now the band’s fifth UK Number 1 single and first in over four years, since 2016’s Shout Out To My Ex. Speaking to BBC Radio 1 Official Chart host Scott Mills and OfficialCharts.com, Little Mix say:
“We literally can’t thank the fans enough. We see them every day fighting to get this song to Number 1. The fact this song has been out since October and now it’s got to Number 1 just shows how dedicated they are. We can’t wait to eventually get back on the road again and see them all – and give them a big hug when we’re allowed.”

The Official Chart: First Look, which airs on BBC Radio 1 today between 6pm – 7pm, offers a first glance of the Top 20 ahead of Friday’s Official Singles Chart Top 100. The chart is based on preliminary sales and early streaming reports.
Little Mix currently lead the way in the race to Number 1 on this week’s Official Chart. Sweet Melody, taken from the girl group’s latest album Confetti, climbs eight places midweek and could give Little Mix their 5th UK Number 1 single on Friday.

Wham’s Last Christmas finally claims Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart 36 years after its release and breaks a new Official Chart record in the process, the Official Charts Company can confirm.
The festive favourite climbs from 3 to 1 after racking up 9.2 million streams over the past week, reaching the summit on the fourth anniversary of George Michael’s death.
Last Christmas sets a new record for the longest time taken for a single to reach Number 1, at 36 years, overtaking Tony Christie’s (Is This The Way To) Amarillo, which took 33 years and 4 months to claim the top spot (March, 2005).
