Al-Shaya discusses ways to address waste problems - ARAB TIMES

Messenger KUWAIT CITY, July 1: Minister of Municipality and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Shaya Al-Shaya during a meeting with the Director-General of Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and Chairman of the Board of Directors Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah and member of the Municipal Council and Chairperson of the Environment Committee Maha Al-Baghli and representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and Kuwait Municipality discussed the integrated system to deal with the current situation of waste of all kinds in the country and to find the best solutions. Minister Al-Shaya presiding over the meeting Al-Shaya then toured the Environmental Data Department, where he was briefed on the Environmental Control Information System concerned with providing information and data. During the tour the minister said he is proud of the efforts and services provided by the authority to protect the environment.

Kuwait names new OPEC governor, national representative under oil minister Fares Kuwait has shuffled its OPEC delegation, promoting Mohammed al-Shatti to its second-ranking envoy to the organization, behind oil minister Mohammed al-Fares. Shatti, who will serve as Kuwait’s OPEC governor, was previously the delegation’s No. 3 official as OPEC national representative. He replaces Haitham al-Ghais, who is now the vice president of international marketing for state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corp. The OPEC national representative role will be filled by Sheikh Abdullah al-Sabah. Kuwait pumped 2.36 million b/d of crude oil in May, in line with its quota, according to the latest S&P Global Platts survey of OPEC production. It is currently the organization’s fifth largest member by crude output and is a close ally of Saudi Arabia, OPEC’s biggest producer.
